Junior Champions Program



Mike Bender, whom Golf Digest calls “One of America’s 10 Greatest Teachers”, has personally designed the Mike Bender Golf Academy Junior Champions Program as an advanced, comprehensive coaching program for young golfers who are playing competitive golf and want to compete at the collegiate level and beyond.
    To be eligible for the program, a participant must be playing competitive golf on a regular basis and be between the ages of 10 and 18. We happily accept both boys and girls in the program.
    Since its inception in 2000 we have built an internationally-recognized program by producing tournament winners on the local, state and national levels. More than 60 of our students have gone on to receive college scholarships with several already having graduated to playing at the professional level.
    This program is intended to compliment –not replace– individual private lessons and runs from September through May with a break during the summer competitive season.
    This is your unique opportunity to train where the pros train and train the way the pros train at the Mike Bender Golf Academy, the “Home of Champions.“


Level I         $900 ($100 per month) for 9 months

Participants receive:
•    One individual conference with Mike Bender for parents and junior.
•    Nine monthly participant meetings with our instructors covering various skills necessary for competing successfully.
•    One-year subscription to Shot By Shot statistical tracking program.
•    One comprehensive short game skills evaluation.
•    One-month MEGSA Perfect Practice Equipment trial membership and a 25% discount on a MEGSA membership for the remainder of the program (optional).
•    A monthly skills challenge.
•    MBGA golf bag, MBGA hat, leather yardage book holder and MBGA water bottle and 16 buckets of range balls.
•    Monthly Play With the Pros opportunity (Limited space available, priority to Level II and Level III participants.) 
•    10% discount on all private golf instruction at the academy while enrolled in the program.


Level II       $2,475 ($275 per month) for 9 months

•    Two individual conferences with Mike Bender for parents and child.
•    Nine monthly participant meetings with Mike Bender covering various skills necessary for competing successfully and monthly skills challenges.
•    One-year subscription to Shot By Shot statistical tracking program.
•    Two comprehensive short game skills evaluations.
•    Two observations by an MBGA instructor during competition.
•    A complete mental competitive profile.
•    A complete physical strength and flexibility assessment with eight group fitness sessions developed by our certified Titleist Performance Institute Fitness Instructor.
•    A nine month MEGSA Perfect Practice Equipment membership.
•    Complete equipment evaluation and tune-up using the TrackMan lanch monitor used by the PGA Tour players.
•    A putting stroke evaluation using the state-of-the-art SAM Putt Lab computer.
•    MBGA golf bag, MBGA hat, leather yardage book holder and MBGA water bottle and 32 buckets of range balls.
•    10% discount on all private golf instruction at the academy while enrolled in the program.


Level III      $5,400 ($600 per month) for 9 months

•    Nine monthly individual conferences with Mike Bender for parents and child.
•    Nine monthly participant meetings with Mike Bender covering various skills necessary for competing successfully.
•    Nine monthly skills challenges.
•    One-year subscription to Shot By Shot statistical tracking program.
•    Three comprehensive short game evaluations.
•    A complete mental competitive profile.
•    A complete physical strength and flexibility assessment with 12 individual fitness sessions developed by our certified Titleist Performance Institute Fitness Instructor.
•    Complete equipment evaluation and tune-up using the TrackMan lanch monitor used by the PGA Tour players.
•    Two player observations in competition.
•    Two 9-hole playing lessons with an MBGA staff instructor.
•    Nine-month MEGSA Perfect Practice Equipment membership.

Program Details
Consultations with Mike Bender
In each level, Mike will conduct player/parent consultations throughout the season in order to discuss all areas of each individual participant’s progress. These meetings are important in keeping an open line of communication with everyone involved in helping the participant reach his or her goals.

Monthly Group Meetings with Mike Bender
Each month Mike will host a one-hour evening meeting at Timacuan to discuss various competitive skills and strategies participants will need to improve their performance. These meetings will cover topics such as: how to use a yardage book, how to play a practice round, how to deal with rules issues and how to warm-up before a competitive round.

Skills Challenge Tests
Each month one of the instructors will be holding a skills challenge open to everyone in the Junior Champions Program. These skills challenges are highly competitive and prizes will be given out to top performers. These tests also serve to see how players act and react under challenging circumstances. The monthly skills challenge will usually focus on one aspect of the short game and will be held in conjunction with Mike's monthly meetings.

Comprehensive Short Game Evaluations
This short game test is given to both analyze each player’s short game condition and to help motivate them towards improvement.  Through many years of research we know how players at every level should score on this test in order to perform well in tournaments. This test also helps our instructors prioritize each participant’s short game practice.

Shot By Shot Statistical Analysis
Shot By Shot is a total game analysis program that accurately evaluates your golf game and does so in a unique way. The pros refer to their stats all of the time to evaluate where their games are at compared to the other players at their level. Shot By Shot’s online program measures the strengths and weakness of your game and then compares them to your target handicap. This insightful analysis is very helpful in directing our focus and your practice time. Shot by Shot is the Performance Analysis Partner to Golf Digest.

Mental Golf Profile Analysis
The Mental Golf Profile provides information about each player’s tendencies and recommends strategies for customized mental game improvements. Each golfer spends about 10 minutes answering the multiple-choice questionnaire. A 20-plus page report will be sent to the student and the instructor for review. Pre-Round preparation, mental tendencies when playing shots, course management, working with your instructors, and mental tendencies towards golf fitness will be highlighted. Your coach will sit down with you for a complete review of the results.

Complete Fitness Assessment
Scott Shepard, MBGA’s fitness instructor, has been trained and certified by the Titleist Preformance Institute to specifically train golfers. Level II participant will bet eight group training sessions with Scott. Level III participants will also get 12 individual training sessions with Scott.

Player Observations
The academy staff recognizes the value in being able to watch juniors play under tournament conditions as they can learn many things about their game that they cannot see during a lesson.  An instructor will attend selected local events to watch all Level II and III participants to better help identify competitive strengths and weaknesses.

Playing Lessons
Level III participants will enjoy two 9-hole playing lessons where an MBGA instructor will be able to work with them on strategy, pre-shot routine, shot selection and on course adjustments.

Equipment Evaluation
Level II and III participants will receive a complete equipment evaluation including loft and lie checks, clubfitting specifications, set make-up review and condition check of all clubs and a comprehensive evaluation using the TrackMan launch monitor.

MEGSA Perfect Practice Equipment Membership
The MEGSA Perfect Practice Equipment is simply the best equipment available for providing feedback to players who are making swing improvements.  Very few academies offer this type of training and it is definitely the fastest way for players to groove and maintain a technically sound golf swing.  MEGSA PPE is used by many Tour players including Zach Johnson, Lee Janzen, Seon Hwa Lee and Morgan Pressel.
 
Timacuan Junior Membership
Level III participants receive a one-year junior membership to Timacuan Golf Club in Lake Mary, Florida.

Range Balls
All participants will receive a range key preloaded with the number of buckets of balls corresponding to the program level each participant is enrolled in.

Lesson Discounts
All participants will receive 10% off all private instruction at the academy while enrolled in the Junior Champions Program.

MBGA Merchandise
Everyone in the Junior Champions Program will receive an MBGA-logoed carry golf bag, hats, leather yardage book cover and other MBGA equipment for personal use.
