TY KRIEGER Director of Instruction, Mike Bender Golf Academy Ty Krieger, Director of Instruction, started taking lessons from Mike Bender in 1997 while he was competing on a variety of tours including the Canadian, Hooters and Tear Drop. During his playing career, Krieger also took lessons from – and was influenced by – World Golf Teachers Hall of Famers David Leadbetter and Bill Strausbaugh, Jr. and GOLF Magazine Top 100 Teachers Mike LaBauve and Mike Adams. He also spent a significant amount of time with Andy Plummer and Mike Bennett of "Stack and Tilt" fame. His strongest influence outside of Bender, came from attending a Mac O'Grady golf school in 2002 which started a relationship with O'Grady that included many late night phone calls and a notebook full of numbers and angles related to the golf swing. This intense pursuit of knowledge about the golf swing caught Bender's attention and Ty joined the Mike Bender Golf Academy full time in 2003. Bender's teaching had been influenced by many of the same teachers during his playing career and this created a seamless blend between Ty and Mike's teaching styles. Krieger
has worked with a variety of PGA and LPGA Touring professionals including Zach Johnson, Skip Kendall, Seon Hwa Lee, Soo Young
Moon and Kim Williams; Futures Tour competitors including Jill Frantz, Chella Choi and Sookhee Baek and nationally-ranked juniors who train at the Academy. He also handles Director of Instruction responsibilities at the Academy at Sarabande, which has an affiliation with the Mike Bender Golf Academy.Krieger holds three course records in Minnesota and Pennsylvania and his best competitive round was 7-under par. He is a graduate of New Mexico State with a degree in Finance. When not playing or teaching golf, you're likely to find him road racing his M3 for GBR Racing.
