Bender Again Named to Top 100
NEW YORK, JANUARY 15, 2009—GOLF MAGAZINE, the world’s most widely-read golf publication, recently added eight new instructors to its Top 100 Teachers list for 2009-2010 published in the magazine’s new February issue. Mike Bender of the Mike Bender Golf Academy at Timacuan G.C. in Lake Mary, Florida is again listed among the Top 100 Teachers on the new list and has appeared on the Top 100 Teacher list since 1996.

Bender also operates satellite academies at Stoneybrook East G.C. and Stoneybrook West G.C. in metropolitan Orlando and an elite level training center at Sarabande G.C. in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL with another to open in Seoul, South Korea this spring.

Bender’s extraordinary technical knowledge of the golf swing has made him one of the most sought after instructors in the game today. He currently coaches many of the game’s top professionals including 2009 Sony Open champion Zach Johnson, Jonathan Byrd, Mark Hensby, Lee Janzen and LPGA star Seon Hwa Lee.
Over the past 15 years, GOLF MAGAZINE’S Top 100 Teachers list has become the industry gold standard, not only because it was the first such list ever issued, but because of the diligent selection process that GOLF MAGAZINE created to assemble the list. Every two years, the magazine starts from scratch to determine the best 100 teachers in the nation.
More than 800 nominations are accepted from among 32,000 golf professionals. Each nominee must complete a thorough questionnaire.

The final decision to include a teacher among the Top 100 is made by GOLF MAGAZINE’s instruction editors based upon a combination of 10 criteria including: swing knowledge, communications skills, innovative teaching ideas, flexibility in teaching different learning types, proven success, willingness to share knowledge with peers, longevity, success with well-known golfers, number of nominations/recommendations and industry awards.
